Better Mapping Disrupting the Florist Industry

HERE mapping resources better mappingHERE mapping is empowering flower retailers with better mapping to improve their delivery and distribution systems. HERE mapping is competing with its exceptional routing based on traffic predictability and real-time traffic. Utilizing a mapping system of this level would be a great marketing strategy for the florists to outperform their competitors.

The traditional delivery system network is comprised of nuisance factors for local florist shops:  deliveries eat up profits,  online orders are often for products unavailable locally, and manual order scheduling does not give customers access to order status.   Some of these problems for florists lead to unsatisfied customers.

HERE mapping saw this as an opportunity and came forward with an original plan that enables the florists to efficiently deliver the orders on time with the conducive platform to keep in touch with the customers. It provides the florists with the all-important location-based data through the mapping that they need to optimize their delivery system.

As mentioned earlier, the traditional delivery network providers used to promote pictures of flower arrangements that local flower shops were not able to create. But the HERE mapping resources allows the florists to share only those photographs of flower arrangements on social media and websites that are present in their coolers, or they can proficiently design according to the customer’s wishes.

Facilitating the florists with the right product assembly and marketing is what HERE mapping is offering, but delivering the product to the client is the more important part. Since Google also limits some waypoints, which doesn’t go in favor of the florists, HERE mapping emerged as a reliable partner and came up with its own highly accurate mapping and routing resources to map the ways for optimal delivery of goods. HERE mapping applies it’s real-time traffic solution to have the driver’s route a traffic-free way to the delivery destination. With this, the HERE mapping is offering a great deal because no customer tolerates a late delivery on special days and occasions. Florists are allowed to restrict the delivery zones.

HERE mapping is making a great difference in recreating the delivery network system for the florists and disrupting the conventional one. From updating the newest geographical changes to guiding the addresses to the delivery drivers, it is capable of taking care of everything for the florists now.  Flowers shops already using the HERE mapping have reported a 20% increase in their profits.

HERE Location Data Helps Lytx Protect Drivers

HERE Mapping Resources here mappingLytx is known for capturing real-time moments on the road, with the aid of HERE mapping. Their signature product DriveCam® safety programs combine video-based coaching with predictive analytics to help you take action before a collision happens. The process is recursive which implies that the company captures these moments and generates reports up to a hundred thousand times per day.

As a risk management company, Lytx relies on the location data provided by HERE to trigger its event recorder for tracking speeds of the vehicles. For instance, if a driving event is taking place at a venue and any driver goes beyond the suggested speed limit, a video capture functionality will be enabled to determine the associated risk.

Lytx Video Services℠ technology transforms your vehicles into mobile, insight-gathering machines with continual-recording on the sides, rear, and cargo area. Side swipes, cargo theft, workers’ compensation claims, and proof of delivery all come into sharp focus.

There are embedded DriveCams® with lenses carved inside and outside to seize moments for about 12 to 20 seconds as soon as a driving event is triggered (i.e., sudden break, steep road with turns, swerve, etc.). Not only that, but this vital piece of information (clip) is wirelessly transmitted to the review center where experts analyze the information. This analyzed clip is sent to the client with custom coaching tips for fine-tuning his or her driving skills.

It should be noted that drivers falling under the protection of Lytx travel approximately one billion miles bi-weekly, which is astonishing to hear at first. But if anyone looks at the diversity of the company, it is pretty understandable as everything ranging from cars to school buses and trucks is being protected.

Here mapping data provides Lytz technology stored data about characteristics of all the roads in North America. This crucial data updates the algorithms of Lytx regarding physical constraints that a driver may face in any given area. Hence, the combination of HERE and Lytx enables all drivers to take another dimension of safety into account and be able to drive safely throughout North America.

When all of this cumulative data is received at the end of Lytx, a thorough assessment of billions of miles initiates (which is now more than 70 billion). The data is gathered from an array of metrics which aid the analysts to work better on identifying correlative behaviors which have led to risks in the past. Since HERE mapping and Lytx offer the most precise and accurate risk prediction, it is one of the most celebrated products regarding safe driving.

Tracking Trash Using Map Data

HERE Mapping Resources map dataThe smart city technology is growing in popularity. It promises to make the lives of people simpler, easier and technologically advanced, however, this is just a small part of the puzzle called smart city technology.

There are various initiatives in this technology that will help to improve the environment and other related issues. One example is the Trash Track project that has been started by the Senseable City Lab. This project aims to use the internet of things (IoT) when everything is trackable as well as addressable. As is suggested by the name, it would also transform the way rubbish is thrown and recycled.

In the initial testing stage of the project, the company added tags to trash cans and then located them through map data as they traveled through the sanitation system of the city. The idea is based on the concept of ‘smart dust’ according to which technology would become so small and diffused that it could be pulverized.

The map data collected through this trash tracking throws light on where the waste goes after it’s dumped. The company referred to this study as the ‘removal chain’ which is as important as a supply chain. The aim of Trash Track is to make this chain more transparent. The project is seeking to promote behavioral changes in the people and encourage them towards more sustainable consumption. People will also come to know how the waste that they throw away affects the world around them.

The Trash Track project uses map data to tell people how long the trash that they throw away remains in the environment and how it damages it. It addresses the problem thinking of ‘out of sight, out of mind’ which commonly prevails among people. It means that most people believe that once recycled, the things stop emitting carbon footprints. This project debilitated this common perception and helped to display the significance of bottom-up approach in the management of resources as well as promoted behavioral transformations through pervading technologies.

The initial deployment of the project in the Seattle area showed some interesting findings.  The trash traveled incredibly far once it’s thrown away and spread all across the country. These quantitative map data results will be quite helpful in creating effective waste management plans and will also produce changes in the behavior of people towards rubbish.

Location Economics Creates a Location Ecosystem

HERE Mapping Resources location mapping analyticsIn this modern era where technology has occupied every corner of life, everyone wants to save time and energy to do any task. One of the greatest time-saving means is location intelligence such as map and location data applications. Every smartphone, and most cars, have a navigation system to locate their position and to reach any destination. HERE is one of the greatest and leading location data providers, it’s a cloud-based platform which contains a solid underpinning of global map content.

A missing piece of Location Based Services Industry is a clear understanding of “The big picture”. Every new player wants to be so special and different that they forget the need to be attached to an ecosystem to make the model viable for everyone.

The actual concept of an ecosystem is defined as a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment. Location data analytics includes the necessary information about the site of an area. A location ecosystem is the connection between people and where they are in the world. HERE provide the best services regarding map data, location platforms, postal content and census content.

An ecosystem’s two missions are biophysical (which is associated with ecology, hydrology and natural sciences) and economic (to measure and communicate the values of goods and services).  Geography plays a vital role in the location ecosystem because nature always keeps its processes going;  the air circulates; water runs the downhill etc.  With an entirely different perspective, nature is stable.  We can’t move a lake from its location; clean air cannot be shifted from one city to another.

HERE enables a completely versatile and efficient platform where the scientists can find the key routing, geofencing and another kind of navigational functionalities for their organization or corporation. This flexible platform is specifically established to provide innovative intelligence regarding location ecosystem.

“Geoinformation is the abbreviation for geographic information. Geographic information is created by manipulating geographic (or spatial) data (generally known by the abbreviation geodata) in a computerized system. Systems can include computers and networks, standards and protocols for data use and exchange between users within a range of different applications.” Find more information @ wikipedia

The interaction layer to Location Economics is the social aspect of using geography and economics together.  Many social networking services, i.e. Facebook, allow users to “check in” to a physical place and share their location with their friends. Users can check in to a specific location on a smartphone since it contains GPS to find their current location.

Without Geo-information (listings, phone numbers, reviews..etc), the interaction is impossible and is the heart of location based services.

HERE provides the robust and quality services regarding location provision that helps you to create a productive location ecosystem and develop location based services.

How Maps are Integrating into Messaging Apps

HERE Mapping Resources mapping integrationThe HERE Platform is the world’s most prominent map and location platform providing the most accurate, updated maps and locational data. HERE is the cloud-based online application built on the firm basis of global map contexts and allows people to navigate their lives and make sense of the world with original personal maps. HERE transforms information from vehicles, devices, infrastructure and other sources into real-time location services that play a vital part in how people move, live and interact with one another.

HERE has recently decided to launch messaging applications and will soon integrate it with other apps. This new feature makes it possible to get the directions without leaving or logging out Facebook. It just requires the user to guide the app to tell where the destination is. Facebook is a widely used social networking site with millions of  Facebook users.  Keeping in mind the importance and user frequency of Facebook, HERE decided to develop an application that involves Facebook messenger.  A user can now insert an address into Facebook messenger, and the HERE bot will deliver directions. HERE is currently testing the bot to see how people are using it.  Anyone who is a regular user of Facebook will soon see that this will become the fastest way to get from one location to another.

The manufacturer of this new innovative idea is the software engineer named as Dariusz Siedlecki, who explained that the inspiration behind this invention was the time when web interfaces were a lot simpler. Dariusz explained that when using Facebook, all the user needs to do is to open a HERE messenger conversation and ask the bot how to get to any of their points of interests such as pubs, clubs, restaurants, hospitals, cafes, resorts or other destinations. The bot will ask the current location from where the person is standing and then provide a route. It’s even proficient in recalling previous locations and destinations, speeding up the process even further. Messaging apps, such as Facebook Messenger, WeChat and WhatsApp are one of the biggest areas that Dariusz sees potential growth for HERE.

As a business owner, make sure your business is showing on the HERE map.  If you are a retailer or destination type business, review the Points of Interest section in GPS to determine if your business will show up for users to find.  If your business is not, you may submit it to HERE directly using this link

Maximizing Fuel Efficiency Using Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

HERE Mapping Resources location data usageThe Eurofot consortium publishes the results of a four-year study on the impact of driver assistance systems in Europe like the location data usage. The European Operational Review (Eurofot) project started in June 2008 and included 28 companies and organizations, Safer Chalmers Research Center is one of them. The study investigated existing technologies and their potential to improve safety and reduce environmental pollution. Eurofot also demonstrated a link between these advanced driver assistance systems and improvements in driver behavior, energy efficiency and road safety and energy saved.

Over 90 percent of the accidents in the European Union are due to the behavior of the driver. Supporting technologies for the driver, such as those that have been tested in Eurofot, can have a positive impact on driving behavior and improve our understanding of potential to affect traffic safety, efficiency and traffic environment. For more than twelve months, more than a thousand cars and trucks equipped with systems traveled European roads and for most of them, at every opportunity, acceleration and lane changes, their movements were monitored and recorded. The field test focuses on eight different vehicle functions that help drivers recognize hazards and avoid accidents: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Advanced Collision Warning (FCW), Speed Control System (SRS), BLIS (blind spot information system) Warning (LDW) Curve speed warning (CSW), man / machine safe and efficient fuel advisor (FEA).

Vehicles with two systems could affect up to 5.7 percent of accidents with injured persons on highways, could affect trucks up to 0.6 per cent of these accidents. EuroFOT findings found that ACC and FCW in passenger cars could have a positive effect on the overall accident statistics for all types of traffic. They could also identify positive indirect effects on transport efficiency. Due to the possible reduction of accidents, calculated vehicle hours each year accessory delay lost could be reduced by more than three million hours. The environmental impact, measured in terms of fuel consumption, showed a reduction of about three percent for passenger cars and two percent for trucks, without taking into account the benefits of changes in the efficiency of transport. Drivers who participated in the study also noted that ACC and FCW was a very appreciated and used function, and drivers felt more safe. They were collected and analyzed over a hundred terabytes of data that were the basis for the consortium Eurofot to assess the impact of using location data on our roads.

The investigated systems of Eurofot could reduce accidents and resources, having a wide influence on the socio-economic impact. Socio-economic assessment shows, in relation to trucks, an advantage of 01.03 to 01.08 costs for CCA.  With the aid of the ACC and FCW systems for passenger cars and trucks, Eurofot determines that the equipment costs for vehicles and heavy trucks significant annual savings.

As a result of the Eurofot, it is recommended that drivers should consider these features when buying a new vehicle. Drivers should also follow the continuous development of advanced systems controllers and usage of location data. The widespread adoption of these systems  can improve efficiency, increase safety and maximizing fuel efficiency by using advanced driver assistance systems.

If your business has an impact on the eight different vehicle functions that help drivers recognize hazards and avoid accidents, and you need to incorporate location data, contact HERE Mapping Resources for access.
